Law Assistant for Guedes, Bernardo, Imamura & Associados Consultoria Internacional Ltda., holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from Estácio de Sá University and has a Post-Graduation Degree in International Business from IBMEC. Worked previously in the the law office Miceli Advogados Associados.

Marília Castanon

Marília Castanon

Director at GBI Consultoria Internacional, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and in Law from Faculdade Bennett, with a Master’s Degree in Regulation and Competition Law by Cândido Mendes University. Worked at the Brazilian Government (1982-2012), initially at the Foreign Trade Office (CACEX) and later at the Secretary of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, especially at the Department of Trade Protection (DECOM) from 1995 to 2012, including work as General Coordinator from 2007 to 2012. In this role, participated in several meetings aimed at the definition of the Brazilian position and at the negotiation of the Committees on Antidumping, Subsidies and Countervailing Measures and Safeguards and on Rules, under the World Trade Organization (WTO). Has an extensive experience in on-site investigations under trade defense proceedings, both in Brazil and abroad. Co-organizer with the former Director of DECOM, Dr. Felipe Hees, of the book “Dumping, Subsidies and Safeguards: Revisiting the technical aspects of trade defense instruments”, published by Singular company in 2012, which includes two articles written by her (“Price undertaking: a brief analysis of the difficulties of its implementation” and “non-market economies in dumping investigations”). She is the author also of the article “Agreement on Safeguards: difficulties inherent to the implementation of such measures”, published at the Aduaneiras publishing company website in 2011. Participated, among others, of the Training Course in On-site Investigations, carried out in cooperation between Mercosur and the Mexican government, of the Regional Course on the WTO Dispute Settlement Body: Rulers, Proceedings and Negotiations in Progress, organized by the Interamerican Development Bank (IDB / INTAL) and the WTO, and the Seminar on Trade Defence Instruments, organized by the Directorate General for Trade of the European Commission in Brussels.

Josefina Guedes

Josefina Guedes

Director of Guedes, Bernardo, Imamura & Associados Consultoria Internacional Ltda., is economist, specialized in foreign trade, with experience acquired in the course in Capacitation in International Negotiations at the Florida University – USA, and throughout twenty years of activity in the exercise of lead positions in Brazilian governmental foreign trade secretaries in the areas of international negotiations and trade defense, taking part in the reforms of Brazilian Customs Tariff, the introduction and implementation of antidumping, safeguard and subsidies codes in Brazil and representing the Brazilian Government on the multilateral GATT (current WTO) negotiations. Was professor at the Foreign Trade Post Graduation course at the Federal Universities of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and Manaus, professor of Customs Legislation and International Trade Law at Veiga de Almeida University and Batista College, professor at the MBA in International Business at IBMEC and MBA in international trade at Cândido Mendes university. Is co-author of the book “Antidumping, Subsídios e Medidas Compensatórias” (Antidumping, Subsidies and Countervailing Measures), already in its 3rd edition, and collaborator of the book “Guerra Comercial ou Integração Mundial pelo Comércio? A OMC e o Brasil” (Trade War or World Integration through Trade? The WTO and Brazil). Currently is member of the Technical Council of the Brazilian Foreign Trade Association – AEB, being its coordinator of the Trade Defense Committee, member of Brazilian Business Coalition (CEB in the international negotiations and member of the Chambers of Commerce Brazil-United States and Brazil-Germany.

Directora de Guedes, Bernardo, Imamura & Associados Consultoria Internacional Ltda., es economista con formación especializada en el área de Comercio Exterior, adquirida en el curso de Capacitación en Negociaciones Internacionales de la Universidad de Flórida – EEUU y durante 12 años de actividad en el ejercicio de cargos de autoridad y jefatura junto al gobierno brasileño en las areas de negociaciones internacionales y defensa comercial, participando en la reformas de la Tarifa Aduanera de Brasil, de la introducción e implementación del código antidumping, salvaguardias y subsidios en Brasil, y representando el Gobierno Brasileño en las negociaciones del GATT, actual OMC. Fué profesora en el curso de pos-graduación en Comercio Exterior de la Universidad Federal de Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) y de la Federal de Manaus, profesora de Legislación Aduanera Comparada y Derecho del Comercio Internacional en la Universidad Veiga de Almeida y en la Facultad Batista, y professora en el curso de MBA en Negocios Internacionales del IBMEC y de MBA en comercio internacional de la Universidad Cândido Mendes. Es co-autora del libro “Antidumping, Subsidios y Medidas Compensatorias”, ya en su 3ra edición, y colaboradora del libro “¿Guerra Comercial o Integración Mundial a través del Comercio? La OMC y el Brasil”. Actualmente es miembro del Consejo Técnico de la Asociación de Comercio Exterior de Brasil – AEB, siendo su coordinadora del Comité de Defensa Comercial, es miembro de la Coalición Empresarial Brasilera (CEB) en las negociaciones internacionales y membro de las Cámaras de Comércio Brasil-Estados Unidos y Brasil-Alemania.

Marcos Imamura

Director of Guedes, Bernardo, Imamura & Associados Consultoria Internacional Ltda., holds a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations with an emphasis on International Trade, a Masters Degree in International Relations from PUC-RJ and MBA on Business Management from Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV-RJ). Worked previously at the Brazilian Foreign Trade Association – AEB and as professor of International Relations in the course for Executives in Foreign Trade at Estácio de Sá University and in the undergraduate courses of International Relations both at the Estácio de Sá and PUC-RJ universities.
